In Baldur's Gate 3, you can die in the first 15 seconds of the game

Nick Pechenin of Larian Studios - Baldur's Gate 3's lead systems designer - stated that the production would be dying within the first fifteen seconds of playing. Just click in the wrong place while playing one of the characters. There are a lot of unique mechanics in the title.

Baldur's Gate 3 will require thinking and caution from the player. IN BRIEF: by playing one of the characters in BG3 - the vampire Astarion - you will be able to die within the first fifteen seconds of the game; it is enough for the player to click on the river flowing right next to the hero (vampires cannot cross the flowing water - it is like acid for them); The game will also feature other mechanics related to bloodsuckers, but they will not make life too difficult for players. The live shows of Baldur's Gate III have already proved to us that it will be a difficult title - Larian Studios boss Sven Vincke has had a character die several times in his own game (he always took it bravely, making comments like "oh no, Again. It wasn't supposed to happen or "You won't believe it, but I've been through it fifteen times before this show"). There is no doubt that this production will require a lot of caution from players. This is perfectly illustrated by the interview with Nick Pechenin, who spoke to journalists of the Rock Paper Shotgun website and said that in BG3 you can literally die in the first fifteen seconds of the actual game.

If you are not careful while playing as Astarion, you can die in Baldur's Gate III in the first 15 seconds of the game. All you have to do is click on the river - it is about the Chionthar river that flows right next to you. If you just don't pay attention to it, you will melt in acid, right where you appear, ”Nick Pechenin said.

The vampire cannot cross the river (this is one of the weaknesses of this type of creatures), but a calm, stationary pond or puddle is not a problem for him. So the developers had to go through the entire world of Baldur's Gate III - piece by piece - and check that the water spots were properly marked. Thanks to this, Astarion will not die, for example, by going through the wrong puddle. The production also takes into account other characteristic features of undead bloodsuckers - e.g. the fact that they must be invited to the house before they can enter it. It is worth noting that these unique mechanics are not meant to be extremely restrictive - the point is not to make the players more fun, but to give them an interesting character to play.

We would like to remind you that Baldur's Gate III is coming to computers and the Google Stadia streaming platform. The PC version of the game should hit Early Access in August.
