Reels - Facebook is starting competition for TikTok
Facebook has officially released Reels - a new Instagram feature and competitor to TikTok. The service is available in over 50 countries.
Facebook shared a second potential TikTok slayer. We have written about TikTok many times over the past months. After all, this application is now de facto as popular as the largest social networking sites. Therefore, the recent efforts of Microsoft to purchase the American branch of its creators are not surprising. Facebook acted differently and announced a competitive service some time ago. Instagram Reels (because we are talking about it) officially debuted today in over 50 countries, including the USA, Japan and Great Britain (via The Verge).
Reels (or Rolki, as the Polish branch of Facebook wants) practically does not differ from TikTok. Both allow you to record short, 15-second videos and edit them with sounds, subtitles, visual effects, etc. We can share our work with the Internet, be it on Instagram or other social media. More information can be found in the help section on the official Instagram website.
This is not the first time Facebook has tried to compete with TikTok. Lasso made its debut in November 2018, but did not gain much popularity and a month ago the company decided to close the service. The debut of Rolls in the form of not a separate application, but the function of the popular Instagram may mean that Reels will not share the fate of their predecessor. The problems of TikTok, which has fallen on President Donald Trump in recent weeks, may also be "helpful". Of course, Internet users did not hesitate to comment on this coincidence.
